May 28: Grant Writing 201
We’re excited to announce our next training opportunity! The Foundation will be hosting Beyond the Narrative: Advanced Strategies for Navigating the Modern Grant Landscape on May 28. This course will be taught by Morgan Carpenter of Carpenter Nonprofit Consulting, who presented our last grant workshop in October 2025. It will cover more advanced topics related to grant writing, but attendance at the previous session is not required. She will cover topics including strategic grant decision-making and organizational readiness, alignment across narrative, outcomes, and budget in grant proposals, and using AI tools in grant work. It will take place from 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM at the Gennett Mansion, 1829 E. Main St., Richmond. The cost of the course is $75, which includes a workbook and lunch. The deadline to register is May 11. June: Grant Cycle I Awards Announced
July 24: Lead with Purpose Registration Deadline
The Foundation’s final professional development opportunity of the year will begin in August with Lead With Purpose. This virtual course is taught by Hedges, an Indianapolis based company that works with nonprofits, foundations, corporations, and public entities to help them increase their skills and knowledge to maximize their impact. It is designed for executive directors, CEOs, board members, potential board members and community leaders. It features eight sessions that meet every other Thursday from 12-1:30 PM starting August 6 and ending November 5. Topics include Nonprofit Fundamentals, Effective Staff and Board Roles and Fundraising Essentials for Board Members. We’re offering it at a discounted rate of $250 for two individuals from the same organization; the course is designed to be taken by both.
